Features
This closed-loop swim tunnel is a specialized system to handle interminent respirometry of fish and other aquatic organisms. A custom acrylic test section of up to 80cm x 20cm x 25cm allows for large scale experiments on large fish, lobsters, crabs, bivalve aggigations, and many more. This means that respirometry data can be taken on many that have traditionally been difficult to record respirometry data for due to their size, while maintining high resolution and accuracy.
World-class thermal management allows for the water to be cooled and heated at rates up to 1 C/minute, allowing for real-world simulations of thermal transitions, key for intertidal research and mixing ocean current simulations.
Water velocities are controlled by a series of adjustable pumps, all seamless controlled and integrated into our easy to use Aquafab© control software. With flow velocities up to 60cm/s and as low as 0.5cm/s, adjustable at 0.5cm/s intervals.
Our acrylic housing with optimum optical quality allows for the swimming animal to be viewed and filmed from all angles: left, right, and from above.
The compact design and small volume still allow for respirometric methods. Applications include physiology, behavior, bioenergetics, biomechanics or kinematic measurements.
